English-taught routes include business, computing and other fields. Some programmes now run three years and 180 credits; duration and admissions requirements depend on the exact award. Compare the curriculum and recognition alongside the fee.

One authorised Georgian university publishes 2026–2027 international fees as USD 6,480 a year for the six-year MD, a total of USD 38,880, and USD 4,200 to USD 4,500 a year for three-year English-taught bachelor's programmes. You will pay rent and live in lari, so the exchange movement between contract and spending is yours to carry.

A study residence permit is issued for study at an authorised institution, for the duration the institution certifies. You must show legal income of at least double the subsistence level per month, or equivalent bank deposits, and apply 40 calendar days before your lawful stay expires. The service fee is GEL 300 for a 30-day decision, GEL 450 for 20 days and GEL 600 for 10.

Expect institutional discounts, not national scholarships
There is no broad Georgian government scholarship scheme for self-funded international students comparable to those in Japan, Korea or China. What exists is institution-level: entry discounts, sibling discounts, early-payment reductions. Ask which body awards it, on what criteria, for how many years, and get it in the contract.
Compare published feesPay the university, never an intermediary
Fees published by the university are the reference point. Pay into the institution's own account, insist on a receipt for every payment, and confirm the bank details with the university's finance office rather than with whoever recruited you.
Check the institutionFund the year before you fly
The residence permit itself requires evidence of legal income or equivalent deposits, so a funding gap is not something you can close after arrival. Assemble tuition, insurance, accommodation and twelve months of living costs from confirmed resources.

Georgia’s foreign-worker rules changed from 1 March 2026. Student residence alone should not be treated as permission to take a job: check right-to-work authorisation and the applicable residence conditions before starting. Finance the degree without assuming earnings.

There is no broad open post-study work route for international graduates comparable to those in Australia, New Zealand or Denmark. For medicine in particular, the point of the degree is usually registration somewhere else — so the plan after graduation is a licensing process in another country, not a job search in Georgia.

Establish what your intended destination requires before you enrol — six years is a long time to discover a mismatch.

A study residence permit is issued for study at an authorised institution, and accreditation is mandatory for all higher education programmes, with MD programmes assessed on their own rather than in a cluster. Confirm the institution's authorisation and the programme's accreditation, including expiry dates, before paying anything.
