01 / YOUR STARTING POINT

Where are you starting from?

Choose the closest match. Use it to plan your next checks, not as an admission decision.

Engineering, IT and applied sciences, mostly in Russian.

Belarusian state universities teach the bulk of their undergraduate programmes in Russian, with a smaller set of English-taught options at a higher fee. Entry is by document assessment rather than a national entrance examination.

Belarusian State University · admission and invitation
  1. 01Decide Russian-taught or English-taught, because the fee and the preparation differ substantially.
  2. 02Prepare notarised Russian translations of your school certificate, medical certificate and passport, plus an HIV test certificate.
  3. 03Apply for the invitation within the university's window — undergraduate applications commonly run from 1 June to mid-October.
Keep in mind

The invitation is what makes a study visa possible, and it is issued by the university through the migration service. Do not book travel before it is in hand.

02 / THE REAL COST

The tuition figure is only the first line.

Currency, compulsory administration and the language year all change the total.

01

Fees are published in US dollars

Belarusian universities quote international tuition in USD. One state university publishes about USD 2,400 a year for Russian-taught full-time bachelor's study and USD 3,500 for English-taught; a technical university publishes roughly USD 3,600 to USD 4,200 for 2026/27 engineering and architecture programmes. Ask which currency your contract is denominated in and how payment is made.

UNIVERSITY STUDY / 12 MONTHS / BYN

An illustrative first-year plan in Belarusian roubles. BYN 11,000 tuition and BYN 1,200 for insurance, the arrival medical examination and registration are planning allowances, not dated currency conversions or a university quotation. Universities may quote in USD: replace these figures using your written offer and your bank’s payment rate, including charges. Monthly living assumes shared accommodation. The housing deposit is separate and may be refundable under the tenancy terms.

04 / FUNDING THE MOVE

Find the right kind of support.

Start with an affordable study plan. Then explore funding that matches your background.

01

Ask about the preparatory-department discount

Some Belarusian universities reduce first-year degree tuition for students who complete their own preparatory department — one publishes a 30 per cent reduction on Russian-language programmes for the first year. Get the percentage, the conditions and the duration in writing before you enrol.

Compare tuition and discounts
02

Treat agent-quoted 'scholarships' with care

Where a discount exists it is normally a fee reduction set by the university, not an external scholarship. Ask which department awards it, on what criteria, and whether it renews. If nobody can name the awarding body and the rule, price the course at full fee.

Check admission conditions
03

Pay the university, and keep the receipts

Official advice to Indian students studying in the region is to insist on proper receipts and to pay fees directly to the university rather than through an intermediary, because payments that never reach the institution can end an enrolment. Confirm the bank details with the university itself.

Where the qualification travels

Recognition is always decided by the receiving country. For regulated professions in particular, check the licensing authority where you intend to practise before you choose the programme. For Indian applicants in medicine, that means the National Medical Commission's rules and screening test. Check the full current rules for course structure, clinical training, internship and licensing; passing an examination alone may not establish eligibility.

06 / KEEP YOUR PLAN CURRENT

Worth knowing before you apply.

Reviewed guidance and official publishers to follow as your plan develops.

MEDICAL STUDY · INDIA

NEET is mandatory and the screening test still applies.

Indian students taking admission to foreign medical courses must qualify NEET, with the result valid for three years, and must clear the prescribed screening test to register in India afterwards. Official advisory material has noted that the pass rate on the screening examination has historically been low. Read the rules before you commit.

PRACTICALITIES

Insurance, registration and the medical examination are non-negotiable.

Compulsory insurance of at least €10,000, registration within ten days of arrival and an arrival medical examination are conditions of staying legally. Ask your university to confirm current fees and deadlines in writing before you travel.

BEFORE COMMITTING

Check travel, insurance and payment arrangements.

Consult current advice from your own government, confirm that insurance covers your destination and check a working payment route with your bank. Admissions guidance alone cannot establish whether travel is suitable for your circumstances. The linked UK advice is an additional reference with its own nationality context.
